The kitchen screen

This is where new orders show up for the kitchen. It's deliberately simple: you see what to make, and you tell everyone else when it's ready.

How it works

  1. 1A new order lands in Waiting. If the sound is on, you'll hear it.
  2. 2When you start on it, tap it. It moves to Preparing, so the front knows it's being made.
  3. 3When it's up, tap it again. It moves to Ready, and the counter and the customer's phone both see it straight away.

Each order shows its number, every item and option, and whether it's dine-in (with the table) or pickup.

What the kitchen screen can't do

The kitchen screen can't take new orders, cancel orders, or take payments. That's on purpose, so nobody in the back has to worry about the money side, and a stray tap can't wipe out someone's order. If something needs canceling, ask whoever's on the counter.

Sound

Tip

Tap Sound on at the start of the shift. Browsers won't play sound until someone has tapped the screen, so if it's quiet, give it a tap.
