Questions people ask
The short answers. Each one links to the full page if you want more.
Do my customers need an app?
No. They scan your QR code or tap your link, and it opens in their phone's browser. No download, no account. What customers see
Can my staff see each other's bookings?
Not unless you make them front desk. A normal staff login only shows that person's own schedule. Staff
If I pause online booking, can I still add people?
Yes. Pausing only stops customers booking from your page. You and the front desk can still add walk-ins. Pausing bookings
Can I just take cash?
Yes. Cash or other works on every ticket from day one, with nothing to set up. You only need payouts if customers will pay online, by QR pay, or on a card reader.
What does it cost to take payments?
On a free account, ServeSlate charges a 1% ServeSlate fee on each customer card payment. A subscription has no ServeSlate fee. You can add the 1% to the customer’s total in Business settings. Stripe's card processing fees are extra and come out of the payout. The money goes directly to your payout account. Payouts
Will customers see my changes while I'm editing?
Not until you tap Publish changes. The exceptions are hiding an item, which takes effect right away, and settings like hours, which go live when you save them.
What's the difference between Cancel and Close unpaid?
Cancel is for mistakes and changes of plan. Close unpaid is for real orders or visits that never got paid for. Both stay out of your sales, but close-unpaid ones show up under Unpaid in reports, so you can see what you're losing.
I run a café and a yoga studio. One business or two?
Two. Each business is one kind: food & drink, appointments, or classes. Both sit under the same account, and you switch between them from the top of the screen. Each kind has its own guide here.
Can my team use ServeSlate in another language?
Yes, the app itself has a language picker at the top of every screen. This guide is in English only, so button names might look a little different on a screen set to another language.
